[A video feed turns on and shows a tired looking middle aged man with brown hair. It's taken him awhile but apparently you can use this thing for messages? It meant ...well talking to people and right now he'd rather just close his eyes and try to figure out why he was breathing. But well, you can't put everything off.

He sighs and trying to ignore the strange creature jumping up and down on his bag behind him, speaks up]

Well so far this has been the better of the two towns I’ve woken up in. Things don’t seem to be trying to kill me as much as they did in Silent Hill anyway. Less fog and snow too....

I don’t suppose anyone would know a way for me to get home would they? My daughters still out there and I need to find her before... Well , I need to find her. Or find out what happened to her even if I can’t go back.

[He sighs, knowing he’ll regret it if he doesn’t ask.]

Also, was anyone dead before they woke up here? Because I’m really sure I was.

_{[No Harry it's okay your daughter is just having a minor freakout moment. She'll figure it out in a second.]}

_{[... Oops. Aw crap. She realizes what she's doing and promptly drops the 'Gear like a hot potato (WHAT IS COORDINATION RIGHT NOW) because of course when you're leaning on the wrong key, the solution is to knock the keyboard off the desk. Makes perfect sense.]

[Fortunately it just plops onto the bed next to her and she immediately fumbles it up into her hands again. The video should be clear as can be now-- no flickering. Heather looks tired and frazzled-- with a few band-aids stuck here and there on her face-- but she's alive and well.]}

DAD, I'm-- I'm here. I'm here, Dad. Better?

[Well that's good. And Harry has to laugh out of relief.]

_{[It's him. It's REALLY HIM. A face she thought she'd only see in her memories now-- here in Johto she didn't even have the old photographs lying around the Daisy Villa apartment to look at and remind herself of him anymore. But here he was, on the screen right in front of her.]

[And-- ...... and she had no idea what to say. It's been a long time. It's been a long time and she's still not entirely sure if she's actually being given a second third chance, or if she fell asleep listening to her messages and is dreaming up this entire scenario. What do you say to someone who's been dead for almost two years? To someone who disappeared without a trace the moment you finally manned up and told the truth to like you should have done all along??]}

I-- I, uh...

[Harry on the other hand is trying to figure out what to say to that. He mentioned being dead. Did she know he was dead? Had she found him already?...what were you supposed to say to your daughter in that case.]

Heather. I-

[I'm sorry? I should have been more careful? I failed to keep you safe?]

I'm so sorry.

_{[... Yeah. Yeah, she knew he was dead. But... the fact that he knew he was dead... made this so much easier. She wouldn't have to hide the fact that she'd been living on her own for her whole last year of high school. She wouldn't need to lie about the future. It was a bleak future, but she wouldn't have to keep it bottled up. Like she'd had to-- .... or thought she'd had to, the first time.]

[After all, dead people came here frequently. There was Jack, there was-- ... that big, warlike but amiable man from Snake's world-- what was his name? Raven? All dead, all aware of it, and all perfectly lively. It was a weird thing to get used to, but... hey. When death didn't get the dead down too hard...]

[But all that is beside the point right now.]

[An apology is the last thing she expects to come out of the speakers right at that moment, and it takes her aback.]}

... No, Dad, don't apo-- it's not-- it wasn't your f--...

_{[She pauses for a second, blinking hard.]}

... What's the last thing you remember happening?

I should have-

[He sighs as she asks him that.]

I was in the apartment.

That...thing killed me.

[He tries not to keep his face calm but ...those memories of being brutally killed are not fun.]

That's the last thing I remember.

[So basically he remembers dying.]

_{[... Dad...]}

_{[She doesn't look surprised. That alone is probably enough to tell Harry that she knows exactly what he's talking about. And she should, after all... she was the one to find the body. Just as Claudia intended her to.]}

... I'm sorry I didn't get home sooner.

[It does...and if she saw him there.]

...Heather. What happened?

_{[There's a brief and uncomfortable pause.]

[Heather's always known that it's possible to feel both incredible happiness and incredible pain at the same time. But it's been... awhile since she felt it like this.]

[She's still reeling from the surreality of it all, to boot... Here she was. Talking to her father. Something that could never happen again back home-- and something that she'd lacked the courage to do half a year before. Her heart's still pounding, just as hard was it was the second her brain registered his voice.]

[When she finally does speak, her voice is small.]}

... A lot.

.....They found you.

[Of course.]

_{[The happiness of the occasion, for the moment, is pushed back in favor of the memory of what happened. Heather swallows audibly, and her tone takes on something akin to a growl.]}

They found both of us.

_{[... And the fact that she knows who 'they' are means... she knows everything. Everything he wrote in that notebook. Everything about Alessa. Everything about what happened on that horrible night she was born.]}

... But it's over.

[He...realizes that. He knew she'd read it eventually. He was hoping she'd never have to. The shame he'd felt, all of that...

He covers his face with his hand. But then looks up when she says that.]

It's over.

_{[She knows-- but it's okay. Maybe at one point she wouldn't have understood, but... she does. ... And right now, it suddenly strikes her that more than anything else, she needs to show that she does.]

[The camera shakes for a moment as she uses one hand to rummage off-screen for something-- then it steadies and something small and bright is dangling in front of the screen. ... It's the locket, the one he gave her so long ago.]

[The tiny latch is undone, leaving the bottom hinge to hang upon like a gaping jaw. ... And the inside is empty.]}

It's over.

[He see's it. And he smiles in pure relief.]

It worked.

_{[The smile in turn causes her to relax, letting out a sigh of relief of her own.]}

Yeah. It worked.

_{[... She'd had to EAT IT rather than just get it thrown at her head, and the result had been bar none the worst thing she had ever experienced in that life, but it had worked.]}

... Thank you.

For... for knowing I would need that.

I hoped you never would. But I couldn't take that chance.

[It's clear that while he had hoped she never would. He know she probably would. And he's still smiling. This is pretty much the best thing he's heard yet.]

Heather. I don't know what happened. But I want you to know. I'm so proud of you.

_{[Despite everything, a chuckle actually works its way out of her throat.]}

You always were good at planning ahead...

_{[There's no doubt about it... she'd have been dead if it weren't for that necklace. And possibly the world would have perished with her-- but whether or not she died to kill the thing inside her before it could rear its ugly head or died giving birth to it, she'd have been dead. Even if he hadn't been the one to land the killing blow on God like he had the first time all those years ago, he'd still saved her again.]

[But it's his next words that really make her chest tighten.]}

_{[She laughs again, but there's a slight choke in it as she raises one hand to rub at her eyes. She's... yeah, she might be tearing up. ... No, she's definitely tearing up.]}

Dad, I... you got no idea how much it-- ... how much I've been-- hoping I could hear you say that.

[His expression is warm smile. He doesn't know what exactly happened. What Heather had done, faced or met. But he knew she'd survived and she'd ended it. The relief and happiness and just pride of his daughter's actions...]

I love you so much Heather.

_{[She'll tell him-- not right now, because... she'd rather not have this moment right here tarnished too much by the memories of what happened on that awful night if she can avoid it. But she will tell him-- because if there's anyone in the entire universe who'll understand what she went through, it's her dad.]

[Still grinning (although it's half-a-grimace, because boy are her eyes stinging now), Heather sniffs wheezily.]}

Love you too, Dad...

_{[Her one comfort in that long last year of high school? Was that even though there had been so much left unsaid between them, at the very least, her last words to him during that phonecall before everything went to hell had been 'I love you'.]}

I've... I've missed you so much.

[He can see the tears in her eyes and he wishes more then ever he was wherever she was so he could hug her. Instead he settles for keeping a reassuring smile on his face.]

Well for whatever reason. I'm here now.

_{[Believe me, she wishes the exact same thing.]}

Yeah, you're-- god, if I wake up and this turns out to be some kinda dream I'm gonna kill something--

_{[She cuts herself off there with one last swipe across her eyes before looking back up, grinning crookedly despite the fact that her eyes are getting pretty leaky there.]}

S-so. Have you uh-- have y'gotten the usual flood of people telling you 'Yes, you're in a different world, no, you can't go home, and yes that weird animal you got is supposed to be there' yet?

_{[She didn't catch sight of the Togepi in the message (she was too busy FLIPPING OUT), but if he's in Johto, he has to have a starter, right?]}

[He has to smile at that.]

[Not that this made seeing her for himself any less startling.]

I still don't have a name yet. But I was thinking Lisa. I figured you'd rather that then Heather.
