[A video feed turns on and shows a tired looking middle aged man with brown hair. It's taken him awhile but apparently you can use this thing for messages? It meant ...well talking to people and right now he'd rather just close his eyes and try to figure out why he was breathing. But well, you can't put everything off.
He sighs and trying to ignore the strange creature jumping up and down on his bag behind him, speaks up]
Well so far this has been the better of the two towns I’ve woken up in. Things don’t seem to be trying to kill me as much as they did in Silent Hill anyway. Less fog and snow too....
I don’t suppose anyone would know a way for me to get home would they? My daughters still out there and I need to find her before... Well , I need to find her. Or find out what happened to her even if I can’t go back.
[He sighs, knowing he’ll regret it if he doesn’t ask.]
Also, was anyone dead before they woke up here? Because I’m really sure I was.
...Quite sure actually.

[But hell. She's not complaining. If this is a dream, it's a good one and she doesn't want to wake up for awhile. Maybe she'll be lucky and Cujo will hold off on his daily OMG GET UP GET UP GET UP TIME FOR WALKING GOOD MORNING I GOTTA PEE OMG I'M A DOG routine.]
Seriously, Dad? For real?
That is so not a 'me' Pokemon.
[Her voice still has that tell-tale croop to it, but her tone is more relaxed. More like the way she used to sound, back when he was alive.]
I don't know Heather. It's cute and adorable. That's 'you', right?
[Heather's grin grows, even as she gives the standard indignant, squawky response to the teasing.]
Dad! NO. Just-- no.
I punch puppies. With my face.
If you're gonna name a Pokemon after me, at least make it a cool one.
You don't think this little guy is cool?
Nothing that looks like it belongs in some kid's Easter basket surrounded by chocolate bunnies and that fake grass is allowed to be cool.
Cute, yes.
Cool, no.
....
Maybe if it was fluffy.
[Yes he went there.]
[Heather takes a moment to look comically outraged.]
.... That's it. I'm running away and joining the circus.
[Amused smile]
[Traveling trainers with performing Pokemon...]
[But the question, in any case, makes Heather swing in a slightly more relevant direction.]
How much do you know about this place so far?
[He mentioned people had already talked to him... new folks DID tend to get slammed with either welcome-wagon informants or people going "yes you're stuck here so suck it up and stop whining" right off the bat.]
[He still has to figure out how Lisa would fight anything.]
[Not that she could blame people for simplifying...]
I've... kinda been here awhile.
So I'll-- ... I'll help you get the hang of things.
[... Assuming, again, that this was real. Not not just wishful thinking on the part of her unconscious mind. ... Or a ghost Pokemon messing with her head.]
Where are you now? Someone mentioned a city?
[... A pause.]
You are in New Bark, right?
[Looking around.]
Someone said something about maps.
[He hates maps thanks to Silent Hill.]
If it's a teeny-as-hell neighborhood with a little science lab and... houses, and nothing else, it's New Bark. [The place wasn't a town so much as one of those little self-contained clusters of houses with a pretentious name...]
Anyway, uh-- there IS a map function on this thing-- see the green button under the screen?
Press it.
[... And she'll just be here praying that he doesn't techno-fail and accidentally end the video feed or something.]
[And he's going to press it. Okay.
Map.]
....I don't suppose I can mark on this though, can I?
[How will he mark all the locked doors?]
Re: [Video]
[THIS IS LIKE THE TIME SHE WAS TRYING TO TEACH HIM ABOUT THE INTERNET. But in any case, don't worry Harry. In this world, all the locks are NOT broken.]
Most of this place is wilderness anyway so there's no, like... streets to navigate. Anyway, if you zoom out a little, you should see a few cities and towns marked.
See that big one labeled to the northwest, kinda next to the ocean? That's Goldenrod.
[It wasn't HELLISHLY far away from New Bark, but it was... pretty far. :(]
...and he doesn't trust it.]
Right.
[He does so and....]
Might take me some time to get there.
[Like he's not coming to find you.]
I'll meet you halfway. ... Or-- ... or borrow a Pokemon big enough to ride on and send it to get you. Or something.
That'll shave the time down by a good coupla weeks.
[Likewise, Heather's not about to leave him in the lurch and sit around waiting like Princess Peach or something.]
....We'll figure something out.
When do you suggest I start walking?
Okay. I've been around here for awhile so I'll walk you through it whether I'm there or not. First place you wanna get to is Cherrygrove. It's a little teeny town by the beach about four days west of you down Route 29.
... You'll need to spend a few nights camping. But it's-- ... not that bad. 'Specially now that the weather's warming up. [... Jeez, how long has Heather BEEN here?]
Once you get THERE, there's places to buy food and supplies and stuff.
Four days, got it.
So berries till then.
[Or after that too...he's not even sure if he has any money.]
Heather...how long have you been here?
Ber-- ... oh. Oh. Dad. Whatever you do, DON'T eat any of the big weird-colored berries. If you can find the normal, little ones that look like stuff from home, those are fine, but the big baseball-sized ones on the little bush-trees? Don't eat 'em. [They LOOKED tasty, but not only were they not, but half of them made your body want to kill itself and the other half sent you on trips worthy of Woodstock.]
And, uh--
[She pauses a little. She supposed she'd have had to break the news that it's been quite awhile since his death in her timeline to him eventually...]
... Almost a year.
Alright.
.....a year?
[He blinks and then realizes the question he should be asking.]
Heather...how long has it been for you?
... I finished high school about a month and a half before I was brought here.
.... M'turning nineteen this summer.
