Fourth Wall [Action for anywhere]

[He noticed one thing straight away the sirens are back. Unfortunately they've brought along a friend with them this time. Today you might run into Harry Mason in two situations....]

[A]

[Sirens are fading into the background, but they'll be back. Harry is getting to his feet and looking around, rubbing his head. He also seems a bit jumpy, and holding a lead pipe in his hands.]

Can anyone tell me where I am now?

-

[B]

[And then the sirens start up again.... and if you are in the vicinity you might want to copy Harry and find cover. Because his friend has shown up.]

[His friend looks like this ]

[His friend is looking for him. If he see's you he'll try to get your attention.]

Get down! That thing is dangerous!

[Yes Harry the giant knives and it being covered in blood may have given that away. It's wandering around looking....]

[Coop hadn't been doing anything in particular, to be honest. Nothing at all. The sirens caught his attention, but at a distance - and he disregarded it as noise among noise, because things get pretty damn loud when places are suddenly flooded with people.]

[He spots Harry before he spots the ... thing. There's a moment's worth of confusion where he instinctively ducks his head but looks around for the thread - and then it all clears when he spots it, not too far off.]

[Eyes widening, he makes his way over to Harry as inconspiciously as possible, hand already on his gun when he crouches down, staring at the monster in disbelief.]

Harry-- what is that?

The thing that-

[He mostly pauses on account of the monster seeming to move in their direction for a moment, but also because for a second, he has absolutely no idea what to think.]

[He knew Harry was dead, knew he'd been murdered, knew, in fact, a lot of things. But not that there had been monsters. Never that things like these existed.]

[But it falls into place quickly, between the way he just believes Harry's response - it's not like he would lie - and as he recalls Heather's description.]

[Knives.]

[He takes a breath, but then nods and latches onto the last thing Harry said. Theirs. Only glancing momentarily at him, keeps his eyes on the grotesque creature.]

You mean it belongs to the Cult?

[Well, they have that much in common, at least. Coop's very much on guard, having already checked his bullets, disengaged the safety, and is keeping the gun aimed at the direction of the monster - although without his finger on the trigger.]

[Coming to terms with all he's suddenly TOLD, though? That's not easy. Coop's used to a lot of crazy stuff, but he has to fight to try to comprehend this.]

Their god is real?

[Again just latching on to what he can find, thoughts racing. He knew they had a God, and it explained a lot of Claudia, that one time he'd talked to her, but ...]

[And Coop notes that change, because it's impossible to not notice. It's quite a difference from his normal demeanor, but at the same time, Harry's always had shades of this, the assertive, determined person that knows how to get things done.]

[But he's still not sure where to begin to start sorting this out all out in his mind, no matter how willingly he listens to the information.]

[One thing stands out, though. And while he's mostly just trying to make sense of it now, it'll pain him once he's not so overwhelmed.]

God, you mean that's why they killed you- what they were using Heather for ...

[Man, this is ... a bit much, and for a short moment he forgets to keep an eye on the monster in favour of staring at Harry. Because that's what it is, really - staring, as things both fall into place and don't.]

[Just ... excuse him for a moment, Harry - Coop's holding his hand up in the universal stop sign while he looks back out at the monster and the grime.]

Give me a moment.

[Coop's normally pretty on the ball with things, and Harry probably knows this even if they haven't talked all too often at length, but he's clearly having a bit of trouble with this. If it doesn't show in his expression, it might in his voice; just a bit faint and distant as he tries to catch up.]

[But after said needed moment, he seems to collect himself a bit, lowers his hand to his gun again and breathes out slowly.]

Did they succeed?
tapestodiane: (nothing ever changes.)

[personal profile] tapestodiane 2012-11-25 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Coop doesn't say anything for a while, but he's ... starting to get back into a place of mind where he feels like he can tackle this.]

[Still, what he says isn't an indication of that, exactly.]

I had no idea.

[Just a soft (if still a little tight - the monster is still there) expression of sympathy, even through some of the disbelief still clinging to his tone.]
tapestodiane: (laid to rest)

[personal profile] tapestodiane 2012-11-25 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Coop understands that reasoning. But it still kind of upsets him, because he works in a division that wouldn't have locked him up. It's just a division that's generally kept fairly quiet.]

[So he looks a bit ... well, sad, really, when he shares that little piece of information.]

I've said it before, but I do believe you. And I strongly believe my supervisor would as well.

[A beat, a glance; monster still where it was last.]

I wish we could have been there to help.

[That's a lesson Coop himself hasn't learned. He still spends a lot of time beating himself up about things he couldn't change, things that might not even have been his fault - not that he's doing this now, because Harry's and Heather's situation is not only different to his timeline but potentially from his very world.]

[But it still grates at his mind. He can't shake that.]

Spoken like a true survivor, [he says without indication his own doubts, allowing the respect he feels for the Masons to show; a bit of admiration as well, but it's not baseless.]

[Coop is a lot of things, and he knows this. Knows he's different, particular, peculiar, and the one usually leading the fights he comes across.]

[He knows he's damn good job at his job.]

[But he also knows that he couldn't kill a god.]
